Google Changes Doodle for Games
Google Changes Doodle for Games
     Written by Mike Stone|Wednesday, 17 February 2010 09:18

The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic games saw google's logo appearing right across the screen. The logo displayed themes related to the Vancouver Olympics. The Olympic torch and flame takes the place of letter "l" and a small ring of the Olympic rings. The search giant has done this many times in the history of the Olympics as well. For instance, during the Beijing Olympics 2008, it had showed the five mascots of the games carrying the Olympic flag. Google's doodle for the 2006 World Cup in Germany was also remarkable. Thus google keeps on experimenting with its logos.

Vancouver olympics

Shelley Rudman was to carry the British flag in the opening ceremony at the BC place stadium in Vancouver. Thus the olympics which had a dashing start is also being covered in a spectacular manner.

But what is the result of all this redoodling from Google? Well, firstly it shows that the search engine is bang up to date. It also shows that it is adaptable and able to tap into the zeigeist, whatever it may be. No doubt there will be another new google logo for the World Cup in South Africa 2010, but what will it be? I guess, we'll just have to wait and see.

For now we are happy to watch the Olympics. Google wants to be the home of the games and in many ways it is. Perhaps, one day we will look back and collect all these rare google doodles in a book or ebook.

This is nothing but Google's opportunistic gimmick. Nothing better was expected from it.

For God's sake, leave the winter games alone.

Elizabeth, Vancouver Olympics is not so popular in all parts of the world. Don't you think that it is a way to popularize the games even?
