Tiger Woods scandal is good for blogs

For years Tiger Woods has been the sporting ideal - the clean-cut golf genius, the family guy, the kind of man you want to take out for a beer... But now in just the space of a week, his image has totally changed. Tiger had a car crash, a mysterious one that he won't talk about and he uncharacteristically pulled out of his own tournament. This kind of publicity is rare for Tiger, and that's why we like it.

Since the accident, sports blogs have been going crazy with comments about Tiger Woods, some negative, most still positive.In the latest sports news , There were hundreds of comments posted to CNN's World Sports Blog, some angry and some saying 'what's all the fuss?' This sports blog is one of the top listed in Dozensports.com. In many ways, Tiger's demise is good for sports blogs. Firstly it gives them something to write about and it creates traffic - in fact, Tiger Woods is now more talked-about online than the war in Afghanistan.

Many were shocked by the recent Tiger Woods accident but why? So Tiger Woods pulled out of his own tournament. Who cares? We all do, apparently. Suddenly, we see that Tiger Woods has a human side.

But people are asking 'what happened?' Is this the start of a new Tiger Woods? On CNN's World Sports Blog, Ben Wyatt argued that the image of Woods we have seen so far has been a 'projection, not reality'. The CNN blog, which is rated as a top on online sports guide Dozensports.com, that says the accident has made him 'more human'. But what does that mean? After all, wasn't he human all along? It makes us ask ourselves, do we like our sports stars to be almost like superheroes or corporate cuties?
