You would presume that the BBC's own sports blog would be of the high standard that we have come to expect from the British Broadcasting Corporation's sports coverage. Think again...

BBC FLOP!

We know the BBC is great at live sports TV but this blog is dead...

The blog is literally just text, no pictures, no video entries, absolutely no effort made at all by the BBC sports editors to even try and make it competitive with other leading sports blogs. They should definitely take a look at CNN's World Sport blog or SB Nation for tips…

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

Yes, you can navigate around it ok, thanks to the archive at the foot of the page, but there's hardly anything here to get lost in. Not enough content.

Who is this blogger? We looked at the description or bio of the bloggers.

This blog is maintained by a couple of editors/bloggers – Carl Doran and Lewis Wiltshire are named and shamed. Yes, there is a short one page bio of each, but it's not clear where it is, there's no photo and it can be found as one of their earliest posts.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? We found out.

You can subscribe to this boring blog by RSS feed if you wish, but who the hell wants to? What's the point? You'll only get one post every couple of weeks! Best to use another blog for info and opinions on the world of sport.

Size isn't everything, but it counts right? Here we looked at the length of the posts.

And when these lazy editors finally do pull their finger out and type up a sports blog, it's just a few short paragraphs – utterly unacceptable from a big sports website.

How many stats are on this site? We graded quality, detail and scope of stats, historical league info and facts.

The sports blog is completely devoid of stats, tables, leagues and results. For all that stuff you need top go to the main BBC.com/sports site.

Ok, how fun is this site? Are there games on offer? Does it do stupid things to photos? Run stupid competitions? We gave extra points for craziness..

The BBC is supposed to have three aims 'to inform, educate and entertain' – this blog doesn't meet any of these goals. For fun go somewhere else.

Why is it different to other blogs? We graded originality and innovation..

If this lifeless blog was the first blog ever then we guess we could call it innovative. But, aside from the useless RSS feeds, this site is stuck in 1999. Someone call the web police please!

Is this site up-to-date? Number of updated, relevant and quality news stories.

Three updates in September, one in May, wow, that's pretty lazy. The editor even apologizes in one of his blogs for the lack of action on the blog, and promises to do better. But then he doesn't post another blog for weeks! Hilarious! We guess these BBC editors are too busy with something else to maintain this blog.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with RSS feeds, video, HD, mobile and audio.

As stated earlier, there's no audio or visual enjoyment here. For such a big broadcaster of sports with decades of history and experience in live sports, this blog offers nothing. Even the main BBC sports website is a bit out of date, the video links take ages to upload and the picture quality is bad. Perhaps the BBC should stick to TV.
