OK, so subscription is free, but who cares...

This site, which has a overall okay feel, is badly let down by its design, that looks a bit dated. The links contain too much text and the pictures are blurred, plus the logo looks amateur. Maybe that's the point.

Surprisingly, this site is a professionally-run operation and you can contact the editorial team of columnists personally. There's also phone numbers and their office address in Maryland. It just looks like it was made by one guy.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? We found out.

They offer an RSS feed service and have a whole section that connects to real fan sites, so that's cool. But they're missing opportunities with Facebook and other social networks.

How sports mad is this site? How crazy are they about sports? Extra points will be given for sites that are almost obsessive about their topics..

SportsFanMagazine.com has real love for sport. It defines a Fan of sports as someone who loves a game. SportsFanMagazine.com takes no prisoners in their advocacy of what they feel the rights of fans should be. They say fans who attend games these days are treated as extras on somebody else's TV show, even though they pay dearly to get in the door. They are ignored when it comes time to alter the rules, raise salaries, license gear, and decide if and when a team should leave town. Last in all this is the very human element of how much sporting events have meant to generations of families, friends, and neighbors. SportsFanMagazine.com has tried to restore some of the art and dignity that the fan experience has lost.

How many stats are on this site? We graded quality, detail and scope of stats, historical league info and facts.

This fanzine for fans is not too nerdy and doesn't boast legions of stats and figures. It's more about the heart than the head. Yes, it loves the game but doesn't offer all the stats fans crave.

Ok, how fun is this site? Are there games on offer? Does it do stupid things to photos? Run stupid competitions? We gave extra points for craziness.

There really is a lot of fun to be had here. Look on the site's sidebar and you'll see links to Sports Humor and even Sports Cartoon by Joe Fan.

Why is it different to other sports sites? We graded originality and innovation.

This is confusing and is realy where this fanzine lets you down. SportsFanMagazine.com says it is the ultimate destination for news important to diehard fans but we checked online and the news section leads to a forum that's hardly used anymore. No good.

Is the news up-to-date? We calculated the number of updated, relevant and quality news stories from fans perspective..

This magazine sends newsletters and offers links to ticketing sites for baseball, etc. But there's no video or photography of any worth here. Sports fans go somewhere else.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with RSS feeds, video, HD, mobile and audio.

Sports web sites are legion, and the fan's sources of information have never been greater. And this site could have been very nice and innovative – it could have provided a real voice for American sports fans – but no. This site needs to be re-done as much more interactive or shutdown completely. Shame.
